"Packin' Trditions" Original Pencil
Cattle ranching is alive and well for many, many generations of families who continue the traditions. From the Dakota's, go north, south & west and you'll find vast cattle ranges worked by both men & women...their "office" being in the saddle, enduring all types of weather and often adverse situations. Gathering or moving cattle horseback, often alone, covering a lot of country in a day or week, 4-legged predators can appear bringing harm to the herd, horses or riders. At the ready with pellet pistol can dissuade those critters and avoid casualties. Artist Maria D'Angelo's pencil depicts such ranching women from the 19th century into the 21st century...a good reminder of "Packin' Traditions".
